This summer, I tried my hand at taking video during our trip through the Sierra. Pt. 1 features our first three days starting from Onion Valley with nights near Glen Pass, Rae Lakes, and the Twin Lakes plateau area. We were able to capture the most spectacular afternoon thunderstorm near Rae Lakes, incidentally the first time we weather tested our new Tarp Tent Double Rainbow. Spoiler: it performed admirably and we stayed warm, dry, and cozy, despite Robin’s look of pure apprehension.
If you look carefully at the footage inside the tent, you can see the flash of the lightning right before the thunder rumbled. So cool!
We were too shy yet to talk to the camera in any meaningful way so our videos mostly feature Robin walking through a granite wonderland and an absurd number of slow panning landscape shots. I’ll get better with practice, bear with me! But for now, revel in my perpetual view as the hiking caboose: ample shots of Robin’s calves. -K
thanks — these are groovy! (It took me so long to watch them because I’m only allowed to YouTube while I’m riding my trainer — and it’s been a good enough winter that I have only recently been reduced to that sorry state.)
